Bio

Eva von Schweinitz is an interdisciplinary theater- and filmmaker. Rooted in research and collaboration, her projects focus on current social concerns and interrogate the realities that we construct, as societies, as individuals, and as humans.

Eva holds a BA in Film from International Filmschool Cologne and an MFA in Performance and Interactive Media Arts from Brooklyn College. Her films and performances have been presented internationally, including screenings at Tribeca Film Festival, Palm Springs International ShortFest, International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, and performances at festivals in New York, Germany, Sweden, France, Belgium and Luxemburg. She has taught workshops and given lectures at the Governor's Institute on the Arts Vermont, Cologne Game Lab, International Filmschool Cologne, The Office for Creative Research, the Ammerman Center for Arts and Technology, and others. As projection designer, Eva has worked with Elevator Repair Service on Measure for Measure (The Public), Arguendo (Associate Designer, The Public, OBIE Award Outstanding Projection Design), and The Sound and the Fury (New York Theatre Workshop, The Public). Further video/sound design collaborations include: Sibyl Kempson, Piehole, Superhero Clubhouse, Eliza Bent, and Sarah Hughes. Eva is a founding member of the German theater collective pulk fiktion, with whom she creates contemporary theatrical experiences for young audiences and adults, and which was awarded the George Tabori Advancement Award 2016. She was a member of the 2017-2018 The Civilians' R&D Group, a 2018 Harvestworks Artist in Residence, and is part of the 2018/2019 Devised Theater Working Group at the Public Theater.
